
Mitsotakis Unveils Growth Plan for Western Greece
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the government aims to build "a united Greece with confidence and justice," in an interview with Peloponnisos newspaper on Thursday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia
He highlighted the completion of the Patras-Pyrgos motorway, set for November 30, as a key part of a broader development plan for Western Greece. The government is targeting infrastructure, tourism, energy, and production investments across Achaia, Ilia, and Aitoloakarnania.
Mitsotakis also announced plans to modernize Araxos Airport and proceed with the sub-concession of the Patras and Katakolo ports to boost cruise tourism. This autumn, he will present a development package with 420 local interventions to support innovation, productivity, and regional equality.
Emphasizing progress in employment, he noted that unemployment in Western Greece has dropped from 26.6% in 2019 to 10%, calling it "a leap twice the national average."
