Trump Signals Possible New Attacks After Iran Nuclear Strikes

Politics

Former U.S. President Donald Trump defended last month’s American strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, saying Washington would “do it again, if necessary.” His comments followed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s admission that the sites were “seriously damaged.”

Posting on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the severity of the attacks and accused CNN of downplaying the success of the strikes, which he said “OBLITERATED” the sites. CNN had earlier reported, citing U.S. intelligence, that the strikes likely delayed Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

In an interview with Fox News, Araghchi confirmed the damage and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to uranium enrichment, calling it a matter of “national pride.”

The comments come ahead of a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the E3 (UK, France, and Germany), scheduled for Friday in Istanbul. U.S.-Iran dialogue had been taking place via Oman until Israel’s June 13 strike on Iran, which led to a 12-day war and direct U.S. involvement starting June 22.
