Erdogan Urges Stability in Syria and Gaza
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed his support for Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, opposing any fragmentation of Syria and highlighting Israel's destabilizing role in the region. Speaking after his visit to Northern Cyprus, Erdogan stressed that Syria’s recovery benefits Türkiye and called for global recognition of Israel’s disruption in regional peace efforts, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Erdogan praised reconciliation efforts in Suwayda, where recent clashes occurred between Bedouins and Druze communities, and accused Israel of preventing stability in Syria. "Israel sees a unified Syria as a threat and continues its provocations," he said.
On Cyprus, Erdogan ruled out visiting the south, reiterating Türkiye’s stance for a two-state solution and pledging continued support for Turkish Cypriots.
Touching on Türkiye-EU relations, Erdogan welcomed UK and German support for Eurofighter sales and urged the EU to revive Türkiye’s membership talks, saying “we are ready for full membership.”
Regarding Gaza, Erdogan condemned Israel’s actions, calling them “genocidal,” and warned that Israel’s aggression could lead to its own downfall. He noted that Türkiye remains in close diplomatic contact with the U.S. on the issue and emphasized global consensus on the need for a ceasefire.
