
Erdogan, Putin Discuss Syria, Ukraine Peace Talks
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday that the ongoing clashes in Syria’s Suwayda region threaten regional stability.
In a phone call, Erdogan emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to restoring peace in Syria and stressed the importance of respecting Syrian sovereignty, particularly by Israel, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
The two leaders also discussed reviving Ukraine-Russia peace talks, with Erdogan reaffirming Türkiye’s offer to host a third round in Istanbul. Putin welcomed the initiative and reiterated Russia’s commitment to a diplomatic solution.
They also reviewed bilateral economic ties, highlighting the outcomes of the June 27 intergovernmental trade commission. Both agreed to maintain close contact on all key issues.
