EU Unveils Tough New Sanctions on Russia

Politics

The European Union has adopted one of its most stringent sanctions packages against Russia, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced Friday, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

The measures include a full ban on gas imports from the Nord Stream pipelines, a reduced oil price cap, and stricter controls on tech exports used in military drones. Sanctions also target Chinese banks aiding in sanctions evasion and restrict Russian banks' access to global funding.

Additionally, 105 vessels linked to Russia’s shadow fleet have been blacklisted, and for the first time, the EU is sanctioning a foreign flag registry and India's largest oil refinery, owned by Rosneft.

“Our aim is to shrink the Kremlin’s war budget and raise the cost of aggression,” Kallas said, emphasizing measures targeting those involved in indoctrinating Ukrainian children.
