Lavrov Claims Trump Pressured by NATO

Politics

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Tuesday that former U.S. President Donald Trump is under "indecent pressure" from NATO and EU leaders regarding Ukraine, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, Lavrov accused Western allies of supporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with offensive weapons at taxpayers' expense.

He questioned Trump's recent remark about giving 50 days for a Ukraine settlement, referencing earlier timelines of 24 hours and 100 days: “We genuinely want to understand the U.S. president's reasoning,” he said.

Lavrov dismissed Trump’s threat of 100% tariffs on Russia's partners, expressing confidence in Russia’s resilience against new sanctions.

He also criticized Ukraine for stalling peace talks, blaming Kyiv for lacking a negotiator after former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov was appointed ambassador to the U.S.

Lavrov concluded that SCO members "understand Moscow’s position" and had been briefed on the latest developments.
