Trump Threatens Tariffs on Russia

Politics

Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday warned of imposing 100% secondary tariffs on Russia if no peace deal is reached in Ukraine within 50 days, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at the White House alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump expressed frustration with the stalled talks: “I thought we’d have a deal two months ago… If we don’t have a deal in 50 days, it’s very simple – they’ll be 100% tariffs.”

Calling the conflict "Biden’s war," Trump said he wants it to end and announced that the U.S. will supply weapons to Ukraine through NATO, with European allies covering all costs. “We’re not buying it, but we will manufacture it,” he added.

Rutte confirmed the agreement, emphasizing that Europe would fully fund the support.

Trump also revealed that U.S. Patriot missile systems will be sent to Ukraine within days, facilitated by a swap deal with a country holding 17 Patriots. Coordination will be handled through NATO.

Meanwhile, Trump’s envoy Keith Kellogg met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv to discuss boosting air defense, joint arms production, and further sanctions. Zelenskyy stressed the need for U.S. leadership to deter Russia's aggression.
