According to the Presidential Administration, the council reviewed the situation on the Ukrainian front and ongoing negotiations, highlighting Romania’s direct interest in Ukraine’s security as a neighboring state, NATO ally, and EU member.
Romania condemned Russia’s refusal to engage in meaningful peace efforts and reiterated support for Ukraine’s sovereignty. "A just and sustainable peace must offer firm guarantees to prevent further Russian aggression and ensure regional stability, especially in the Black Sea area," the statement read.
CSAT emphasized that future peace negotiations must include Ukraine and the EU, and firmly reject any Russian attempts to divide Europe into spheres of influence.
The meeting also approved Romanian troops for international missions in 2026 and addressed other national security matters.
