Erdogan Urges Ceasefire, Slams Netanyahu

Politics

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday called on influential global powers to resist Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s provocations and instead work to establish a ceasefire in the region. Speaking at the OIC Youth Forum in Istanbul, Erdogan warned of escalating destruction in the Israel-Iran conflict and the worsening humanitarian disaster in Gaza, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

“Hands must be taken off the triggers before more civilians suffer,” he said, emphasizing that Gaza is enduring a modern-day barbarism. He accused Israel of targeting food lines, hospitals, and healthcare workers, stating that over 700 attacks on medical facilities and nearly 1,000 medical personnel deaths have occurred since the start of the conflict.

Erdogan condemned the international silence, calling it complicity in what he described as genocide, and reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for Palestine despite pressure from Zionist lobbies. He praised the resilience of Gaza’s youth and civilians, saying, “Long live Free Palestine.”

The Turkish president also highlighted the significance of the OIC Youth Forum’s efforts in diplomacy, education, and advocacy, and expressed hope that the forum would contribute to peace and justice for the Muslim world.
