Sandu Visits Comrat, Supports Gagauz Language

President Maia Sandu visited Comrat today to discuss the preservation of the Gagauz language, which is listed by UNESCO as at risk of extinction. In a meeting with teachers and Education Minister Dan Perciun, a new training program was announced for kindergarten educators teaching Gagauz in the autonomous region, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Sandu emphasized the importance of improving language instruction in local schools.

She also visited the Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum, Comrat’s only Romanian-language school. The renovated lyceum, which serves 600 students, received over 25 million lei in funding from both the Moldovan state and the Romanian government. The school boasts a perfect national exam pass rate and participates in innovative educational projects like Tekwill in Every School and Class of the Future.
