Erdogan: Russia-Ukraine Talks a ‘Historic Step’

Politics

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the latest Russia-Ukraine talks held in Istanbul a “historic step” toward ending the war, now in its fourth year. Speaking during his Eid al-Adha message, Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s efforts to foster peace across conflict zones, including Gaza, Sudan, and Somalia, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

At Monday’s talks, Russia and Ukraine agreed to exchange sick and severely wounded prisoners of war, as well as those under 25, and to return the remains of 12,000 soldiers.

Erdogan also expressed solidarity with Palestinians, praising their resistance against Israeli attacks and honoring the lives lost in Gaza. He voiced hope for a lasting peace in Syria, supported by regional partners.

Eid al-Adha, one of Islam’s most significant holidays, was the backdrop for Erdogan’s appeal for unity and peace in the Muslim world and beyond.
