
Erdogan Offers Peace Summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proposed hosting a peace summit in Istanbul or Ankara with the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, and the US, aiming to make Istanbul a “center of peace.” Speaking after a cabinet meeting on Monday, Erdogan expressed his wish to bring together Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as former US President Donald Trump, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
He praised Monday’s negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul as a “significant achievement,” despite Ukraine’s overnight drone attack targeting more than 40 Russian military aircraft.
Erdogan also highlighted regional developments, expressing support for Syria’s stability and welcoming the lifting of European sanctions on Syria. He announced that Turkish carrier AJet will operate regular flights to Syria, with Syrian Airlines soon to begin flights to Türkiye.
