Romania Ends Campaigning Before Runoff

The electoral campaign for Romania’s presidential runoff officially ended on Saturday at 7:00 AM, the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) announced, CE Report quotes Agerpres

From this moment, all forms of electoral propaganda are strictly prohibited. This includes displaying or broadcasting campaign materials, airing electoral messages on screens or vehicles, and urging people to vote for or against any candidate.

However, content posted online during the campaign may remain visible if not actively promoted or redistributed after the campaign’s end.

No campaign activity is allowed at public events or through digital messaging until voting concludes. Offering or promising rewards in exchange for votes is also banned.

Political ads must be removed from polling station buildings by the day before voting.

Voting in Romania takes place Sunday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, while Romanians abroad began voting Friday. There are 17.99 million registered voters in Romania and over 1 million eligible Romanian voters living abroad.
