US President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin “as soon as we can set it up” to help end the Russia-Ukraine war, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking in the UAE, Trump said Putin skipped the recent Istanbul peace talks because Trump wasn't attending. “If I don’t go, then Putin’s not going — and he didn’t go,” Trump noted.

Trump plans to return to the US first to visit his newborn grandson before pursuing talks with Putin. “I would actually leave here and go, I do want to see my beautiful grandson,” he said.

He emphasized the urgency of ending the conflict: “It’s time for us to do it.”

Trump also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying, “We’re looking at Gaza and we’re gonna get that taken care of. A lot of people are starving.”

He concluded with optimism: “The world is a much safer place right now and in two or three weeks we can have it be a much, much safer place.”
