
Egypt and Greece Deepen Ties
On Wednesday, President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine Tassoulas welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Athens, marking el-Sisi’s fifth official visit to Greece. During their meeting, President Tassoulas highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two nations, calling it an exemplary relationship rooted in the principles of the UN Charter. He emphasized the potential for deeper cooperation in areas such as security, energy, education, and culture, especially in light of current regional instability.
Tassoulas also stressed the shared concern over conflicts in the broader Mediterranean and Middle East, underlining both nations’ commitment to peace, the return of hostages, and ceasefire efforts.
President el-Sisi echoed the sentiment, noting the strong bilateral ties and the importance of regional stability. He addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating Egypt's position against mass migration from the enclave and advocating for Palestinians to remain there. He also reaffirmed Egypt’s stance against serving as a route for illegal migration, calling for coordinated efforts on legal migration.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to peace and deeper collaboration to address shared challenges.
