Voter Turnout Hits 24.5% by 1 PM

As of 1:00 PM, 4,399,722 voters—24.46% of registered voters—had cast their ballots in the first round of Romania's presidential election, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), CE Report quotes Agerpres

Urban turnout totaled 2.75 million, while 1.65 million voted in rural areas. Mobile ballot boxes were used by 35,903 voters.

Of the total turnout, 3.83 million voted inside Romania (21.32%), and 563,833 voted abroad—mostly on supplementary lists. Overseas voting began Friday and runs until Sunday evening.

Counties with the highest turnout so far include Ilfov (28.77%), Arges (26.15%), and Giurgiu (25.01%). The lowest turnout was recorded in Satu Mare (15.20%) and Vaslui (15.24%).

Bucharest saw a 21.81% turnout, with Sector 1 (24.86%) and Sector 6 (24.43%) leading.

At the same time during the annulled 2024 first round, turnout stood at 21.99%.
