Trump Calls Talks with Putin ‘Productive,’ Hints at Possible End to Ukraine War

Politics

US President Donald Trump described his recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin as “very good and productive,” expressing optimism about ending the ongoing war in Ukraine, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

“There is a very good chance that this horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end,” Trump wrote on social media. However, he also warned of a dire situation for Ukrainian troops, stating that thousands are “completely surrounded by the Russian military” and at risk of a “horrible massacre.”

Putin recently welcomed a US-backed 30-day ceasefire plan accepted by Kyiv but emphasized that any truce must lead to a final resolution addressing the conflict’s root causes. He met with US special envoy Steven Witkoff to discuss further steps.

The US, under Trump’s leadership, has intensified diplomatic efforts, engaging in talks with both Ukraine and Russia. Recent meetings in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Istanbul have focused on establishing peace talks, resuming intelligence sharing, and normalizing embassy operations.

The war, now over three years long, remains a central issue in global diplomacy, with both sides seeking a lasting resolution.
