Erdogan Welcomes Ukraine's Ceasefire, Hopes for Constructive Russian Response

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has welcomed Ukraine’s acceptance of a ceasefire in its conflict with Russia, expressing hope that Moscow will respond constructively, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Ankara, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s consistent stance on the war, calling for a just peace. He also reiterated Türkiye's willingness to mediate and host negotiations if recent developments lead to renewed talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Highlighting the region's exhaustion from war, Erdogan emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to promoting peace. Additionally, he stressed that the EU can only regain its strength and influence through Türkiye's full membership.

On Turkish-Polish relations, Erdogan noted that both countries, as key NATO allies, command the alliance's two largest ground armies in Europe.
