Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned of efforts to create instability while addressing Parliament on the Tempi rail crash. He cited a report from the National Organisation for Investigating Air and Rail Accidents, which highlighted systemic weaknesses but confirmed that the tragedy resulted from a combination of human errors and longstanding state inefficiencies, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Mitsotakis urged against politicizing the accident, stressing that the 57 victims' families deserve truth and justice rather than division and misinformation. He emphasized that most public demonstrations were not about ousting the government but about demanding safer and more modern transportation.

The report, compiled with European experts, identified key failures, including mistakes by a local stationmaster and a train driver, structural shortcomings, and coordination gaps in the state's response. It also made 17 safety recommendations. Mitsotakis rejected opposition claims of a cover-up, asserting that no political interference was found in the investigation.

He concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to accountability and ensuring such a tragedy never happens again.
