"Many citizens will gather to honor the victims and demand safer public transport. The state must ensure their right to peaceful assembly is protected," Mitsotakis said. However, he warned against attempts to exploit the tragedy for political gain, condemning divisive rhetoric and online provocations that seek to destabilize the country.
Acknowledging the opposition’s right to challenge the government, he affirmed that any such motions should be brought through parliamentary channels. He reiterated that Greece must move forward, using past tragedies as catalysts for meaningful reform.
"The best way to honor the 57 victims is to ensure Greece finally has modern, safe trains," he concluded.
