Reflecting on the morning of February 24, 2022, Sandu recalled hearing explosions from her office, uncertain where the next strike would land. "Today, we know for sure: the courage of Ukraine ensured Moldova’s safety and peace," she stated.

Sandu condemned Russia’s ongoing aggression, noting that a compromised peace would only delay further conflict. She stressed the necessity of real, enforceable security guarantees to prevent history from repeating itself. "Putin will not stop in Ukraine. Therefore, our response must be firm, and our support – unwavering," she declared.

The Moldovan leader reaffirmed that Ukraine is not only fighting for itself but for the security of all. "As long as Ukraine resists, Moldova and Europe resist. Moldova stands with Ukraine, with freedom, and with the pursuit of true peace," she concluded.

The summit marked three years since the start of Russia’s invasion, bringing global leaders together to discuss defense and security strategies.
