Albania reaffirms its solidarity with North Macedonia on Kocani tragedy anniversary
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Ferit Hoxha spoke by phone with North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski, reaffirming the excellent relations between the two countries and underscoring the importance of regional cooperation.
In a post on the social network X, Hoxha emphasized that during the phone conversation, they discussed strengthening the partnership between the two countries, the European integration process, and important projects for regional development and connectivity, CE Report informs via the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania’s official website.
“For us, North Macedonia is not only a neighbouring and friendly country, but also a valued NATO ally and a close regional partner,” Hoxha emphasized.
Minister Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s solidarity with North Macedonia on the anniversary of the Kocani tragedy, also stressing the importance of fully implementing the Ohrid Framework Agreement and advancing joint efforts on the Corridor VIII project.
“On the anniversary of the Kocani tragedy, I reiterated our solidarity and Albania’s strong commitment to stand by the institutions and citizens of North Macedonia in moments that call for solidarity, mutual support, and stronger regional cooperation,” Hoxha stated.
He further noted that the meeting underscored a shared understanding that the European integration of both countries, as well as of the entire Western Balkans, is of strategic importance and represents the best investment in stability and security, both for the region and for the European Union.
The meeting also reaffirmed the paramount importance of the full implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, which stands as a cornerstone of interethnic coexistence and institutional stability in the country.
On this note, Hoxha emphasized the importance of implementing the Law on the Use of Languages, including the use of the Albanian language within state institutions, through solutions that respect constitutional principles and reflect the country’s multiethnic character.
“Finally, we agreed on the importance of advancing cooperation for the implementation of Corridor VIII, a key project for regional connectivity and development,” Hoxha concluded.
