Trump Pushes for US Control of Greenland, Citing Security Concerns

Politics

US President Donald Trump reiterated his desire for US control of Greenland on Wednesday, emphasizing national and international security concerns, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

“We need Greenland from a security standpoint, and we have to do something about it,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, as reported by Forbes Breaking News. He argued that Greenland’s strategic importance has only increased with modern military technology.

Greenland, under Danish sovereignty since 1953, has drawn Trump’s interest due to its location and rich mineral resources. His past remarks about acquiring Greenland have sparked tensions, especially after he refused to rule out economic or military actions to secure it, calling it crucial for “the protection of the free world.”

Trump has previously likened acquiring Greenland to a “large real estate deal” and described it as an “absolute necessity” for US economic security. However, both Denmark and Greenland’s residents have firmly rejected the idea.
