President Klaus Iohannis sent a message on Monday, July 29, Romania's National Anthem Day, in which he said that this is "a good opportunity to reaffirm the collective commitment of our generation to continue developing Romania." CE Report quotes Agerpres

"Today, we are celebrating the 176th anniversary of the national anthem, one of the founding symbols of our nation. The mobilising lyrics by Andrei Muresanu and the vibrant energy of Anton Pann's music made 'Awaken Thee, Romanian!' become part of our national identity and a message of freedom that Romanians transmitted with pride and courage in the crucial moments of the Romanian state, from the1848 Revolution, the proclamation of independence, the Greater Union and until the fall of the communist regime," President Iohannis said in the message, according to the Presidential Administration.
