New Polish President Signals Tense Start

Poland

Poland’s President-elect Karol Nawrocki has named Law and Justice (PiS) MP Zbigniew Bogucki as head of the President’s Office. Bogucki acknowledged that cooperation with Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s centrist government would likely be “not easy,” citing tensions over constitutional roles in lawmaking, CE Report quotes PAP

Nawrocki, backed by PiS during his campaign, plans to present his first legislative proposals on August 7, a day after taking office. He has previously called Tusk “the worst Polish prime minister since 1989.”
