PiS Rallies Ahead of 2027 Election
On Sunday, Poland’s conservative Law and Justice party (PiS) held a rally in Pultusk to mobilize supporters ahead of a planned nationwide tour aimed at reclaiming power in the 2027 parliamentary elections. Party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski declared that the upcoming swearing-in of President-elect Nawrocki on August 6 would mark “the path to victory.”
Despite full PiS backing during the campaign, Nawrocki maintained he is a "grassroots and non-partisan" president-elect. He promised to present concrete initiatives starting August 7 and urged cooperation with the centrist government led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, though tensions remain high, CE Report quotes PAP
Nawrocki, a right-wing historian, narrowly defeated Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski in the June 1 presidential runoff with 50.89% of the vote. Reports of voting irregularities soon emerged, including potential miscounts and suspicious vote surges in Nawrocki’s favor. Over 50,000 election protests have since been filed with the Supreme Court.
Critics question the integrity of the court process, as the PiS-created Chamber of Extraordinary Control—staffed with judges appointed under disputed procedures—will validate the election results.
