Tusk to Face Confidence Vote on June 11
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will face a confidence vote in the Sejm on June 11, following his coalition's loss in the presidential election. Tusk, aiming to reaffirm his mandate under newly elected President Karol Nawrocki, said the vote was initially planned for June 10 but had to be rescheduled, CE Report quotes PAP
Sejm Speaker Szymon Holownia, leader of coalition partner Poland 2050, confirmed the new date, saying most of the session would be devoted to the debate. “The vote should show not only our majority but a new quality,” he said.
A meeting of coalition leaders is expected later this week. Under Poland’s constitution, a successful confidence vote allows the government to continue; failure would force the prime minister to resign.
