Italy cracks down on shisha bars

Health

Inspections carried out across Italy by the Carabinieri’s Anti-Adulteration and Health Units (Nas) and by the Customs and Monopolies Agency (Adm) in 73 shisha bars.

These are venues where hookah molasses and water-pipe tobacco are sold and consumed—have led to the administrative reporting of 14 individuals and the seizure of 22 kilograms of tobacco, 17 kilograms of hookah molasses, 44 hookahs, and various packages of mouthpieces, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The operation uncovered several violations, especially concerning the owners’ lack of the so-called “special license,” which is the authorization required for the sale and consumption of such products.
