Woman in Lazio Dies from West Nile Virus

An 83-year-old woman from Pontinia has died at Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in Latina due to the West Nile virus,CE Report quotes ANSA.

She arrived at the emergency room on July 24 and was admitted to intensive care in serious condition due to multiple underlying health issues. She passed away in the ICU. This marks the sixth confirmed death from West Nile virus in Lazio.

Meanwhile, the first case of West Nile infection in Rome has been detected at the Spallanzani Institute. The patient is a woman with no links to the Agro Pontino area.
