A 32-year-old man was found dead in a horrific state near Amiens in northern France, according to police sources cited by AFP, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The gruesome discovery was made by a hiker in an outdoor sports area in Pont-de-Metz. The body, left lying on the ground in a "cruciform" position, had been slit at the throat, disemboweled, and also showed knife wounds to the neck and back.

Local authorities immediately sealed off the crime scene to the public and media. Pont-de-Metz Mayor Loïc Bulant confirmed that the victim had been “slashed at the throat, abdomen opened, eviscerated, and most notably, apparently arranged in the shape of a cross.” Police officers were reportedly deeply shaken by the scene, which one source described as “like a horror movie.”

The victim was a local resident of Amiens.

Mayor Bulant emphasized that the park is typically a peaceful area where “children play, families picnic, and people spend their days.” One local resident, Florian Hollemaert, 36, who frequently visited the park with his child, expressed shock and said he would avoid the area for a while.

An investigation is ongoing.
