Bulgaria will host the prestigious start of the Giro d’Italia in 2026, Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh announced during a joint briefing with Sports Minister Ivan Peshev, CE Report quotes BTA

The Bulgarian government has approved final negotiations to secure the Grande Partenza (official race start), which will span three stages across various municipalities. Competing with several other countries, Bulgaria succeeded in its bid to host the iconic cycling event.

“This will put Bulgaria on the global tourism map and significantly boost our image,” said Borshosh. The specific dates, route details, and budget will be announced later.

The Giro d’Italia occasionally begins outside Italy to promote international visibility. Previous foreign starts have included the Netherlands, Israel, and Denmark.
