George Michael’s historic ‘Faith Tour’ concert gets official live album
“The Faith Tour” will be released on November 6 through George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment. The live album features 18 previously unreleased recordings of some of George Michael’s biggest hits, both with Wham! — who sold millions of records — and from his solo career.
Recorded during the historic concert at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy as part of the 1988 European Faith Tour, the first series of solo concerts by the superstar, the album highlights George Michael’s vocal talent and his abilities as a live performer, CE Report quotes ANSA.
“The Faith Tour” includes live versions of hit singles from the “Faith” album, including “Faith,” “Father Figure,” “One More Try,” and “Monkey,” which still sound remarkably fresh today.
The “Faith” album was written, arranged, produced, and performed almost entirely by George Michael. It marked the emergence of a new kind of pop icon — an artist capable of blending soul, R&B, and rock into an elegant, emotionally powerful, and deeply personal sound that captivated audiences of all ages around the world.
The album earned him a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, three American Music Awards, and a record-breaking four No. 1 singles in the United States. This made George Michael the only British male solo artist to achieve four No. 1 singles in the U.S. from a single album on the Billboard Hot 100 — a record that remains unbeaten.
The tracklist also features previously unreleased covers of songs particularly close to the music legend’s heart, including Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s in Need of Love Today” and Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade.”
Never forgetting his roots, the star also included two of Wham!’s most beloved songs, “Everything She Wants” and “I’m Your Man,” paying tribute to the journey that led him to “Faith” while also celebrating the completion of 24-year-old George’s transformation from a hugely popular band member into a solo pop superstar.
The film “George Michael: The Faith Tour” will be released in cinemas worldwide later this year.
