Oscars after-party promises luxury menu with caviar, truffles

Thirty kilograms of caviar, 100 kilograms of pork chops, dozens of kilograms of truffles, smoked salmon, and chicken — these are the ingredients needed to satisfy the taste buds of Hollywood’s elite at the Academy Awards ceremony, AFP reported on Wednesday.

The 98th Oscars ceremony will take place on Sunday and, as every year, will be followed by the Governors Ball, the party where winners celebrate with champagne while those who did not win drown their disappointment in refined cocktails, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Chef Wolfgang Puck, who has been in charge of the event for 32 years, plans to serve “great classics”, such as chicken pot pie, along with several new dishes, including a generous à la carte sushi buffet.

“We are preparing about 25,000 plates for the evening,” he explained to AFP on Tuesday while presenting the menu to the press.

“You can eat Japanese food, Austrian food, and always the best steak,” he said while flambéing a juicy pork rib steak.

Of course, stars can also opt for vegan dishes, as the aim is to satisfy every taste, Puck assured.

The challenge comes from the fact that many guests are celebrities who take weight-loss medications to maintain their figure. They might take the medication **“instead of spinach,” alongside Miyazaki beef, the chef joked.

The evening will also feature thousands of bottles of wine, champagne, sake, and tequila. This year, stars will also be able to taste cocktails inspired by Mexican and Italian culture.

For dessert, guests will be offered the traditional chocolate Oscars, a consolation prize for those who do not win an award during the ceremony.

“It’s so difficult to win an Oscar,” chef Garry Larduinat told AFP. “So having a chocolate one to take home is something very special — and it’s the only place where you can get one,” he added.
