Rachel Weisz, Matthew Macfadyen star in remake of 1964 classic
Swedish director Tomas Alfredson returns to the big screen with the psychological thriller Seance on a Wet Afternoon.
This is a project he has been preparing for over five years and is a remake of the classic 1964 film starring Richard Attenborough and Kim Stanley, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
The film stars Oscar-winning Rachel Weisz and Succession star Matthew Macfadyen, with Joe Alwyn also joining the cast.
The screenplay is written by Jack Thorne, while cinematography is handled by Marcell Rév, who is expected to give the film a distinctive visual identity with dynamic camera movement and intimate close-ups.
Based on Mark McShane’s 1961 novella, the story follows Myra (Weisz), “a self-proclaimed medium who, in an attempt to prove her abilities, convinces her devoted husband Billy (Macfadyen) to kidnap the son of a wealthy family.”
