Croatia to return to standard time on 26 October
Daylight Saving Time ends on the night of Sunday, 26 October, when clocks will be set back by one hour -- from 3:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. -- marking the start of standard (winter) time, in accordance with the government's Regulation on Daylight Saving Time.
According to the regulation, based on the Time Act, daylight saving time began this year on 30 March and will run until 26 October. Daylight saving time starts on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October, CE Report quotes HINA.
With the switch to standard time, electricity consumed during the higher tariff period will be billed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and during the lower tariff period from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Various rules on daylight saving time were standardised in the European Union in 1996. Since then, critics have called for its abolition, citing studies showing that clock changes in spring and autumn negatively affect both the economy and human health.
In 2018, the EU proposed ending the clock changes, but no agreement has been reached to date.
