Italian startup, European consortium sign deal on nuclear reactor prototype
Italian startup Newcleo and the European consortium Eagles — which includes Ansaldo Nucleare and Enea for Italy, Raten for Romania, and SCK CEN for Belgium — have signed a cooperation agreement for the development of Leandrea, a nuclear reactor prototype.
The prototype will be developed by 2034 at the Belgian research institute SCK CEN, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The agreement was signed in Brussels during the “Taking the Lead” conference, dedicated to the Eagles-300 project.
Eagles-300 is a lead-cooled fast mini reactor planned to be developed in Europe by 2039, and the signing took place in the presence of Belgian Energy Minister Mathieu Bihet.
