Moldova Sets Ambitious Renewable Energy and Emission Reduction Targets
Moldova has approved its National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) 2025-2030, committing to a 30% share of renewable energy in final consumption and a 68.5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The plan outlines key priorities for a sustainable and accessible energy system, focusing on energy security, efficiency, and market modernization. Measures include diversifying energy import routes, strengthening interconnections with Romania and ENTSO-E, and developing a new energy strategy by 2050.
Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu emphasized that the plan aligns with Moldova’s Energy Community Treaty commitments, driving economic growth, innovation, and job creation.
PNIEC also includes residential building renovations, smart meter implementation, and support for energy-efficient transportation. Additionally, the plan promotes market liberalization, the launch of the Moldovan Energy Market Operator, and integration with European energy markets.
