WGA unveils 2026 screenplay nominees
The nominations for the awards to be presented by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) in 2026 were announced, and the films Sinners, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Hamnet are among the motion pictures nominated in the categories of best original screenplay and best adapted screenplay, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
In the original screenplay category, the nominated films are Black Bag, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Marty Supreme, Sinners, and Weapons, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
The productions nominated for best adapted screenplay are Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and Train Dreams.
Although the WGA’s original screenplay category differs somewhat from the Academy Awards’ best original screenplay category, the films Marty Supreme and Sinners were selected this year by both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Writers Guild of America.
By contrast, the nominations announced in the adapted screenplay category at the Academy Awards are identical to those selected by the WGA in this category.
None of the films nominated by the WGA for best documentary screenplay are nominated for an Oscar in the best documentary category.
The winners of the 2026 WGA Awards will be announced during two simultaneous ceremonies held in New York and Los Angeles on March 8.
