Türkiye, Bulgaria inaugurate Kardzhali’s first full religious complex
With the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, AK Party Deputy Chairman Zafer Sırakaya, President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs Safi Arpaguş, AK Party Bursa Deputy and Chairman of the Turkiye–Bulgaria Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Mustafa Yavuz, and MHP Mersin Deputy Levent Uysal.
Minister Ersoy stated that this mosque is not only a place of worship for the Muslim community in the region, but also holds great spiritual, cultural, and social significance, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Emphasizing that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries continues to strengthen, Ersoy said that relations between Turkiye and Bulgaria are progressing on a solid foundation of mutual trust, respect, and constructive collaboration.
Ersoy noted that the positive relationship between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Bulgarian President Rumen Radev contributes to regional peace and stability.
He explained that the complex they inaugurated is not only a place of worship but also a comprehensive living space that meets the educational, social solidarity, and cultural needs of the Muslim community living in Kardzhali. Ersoy highlighted that the mosque was built on a 1,400-square-meter area and can accommodate 1,200 worshippers at the same time.
Ersoy added that with its Qur’an school, meeting halls, event areas, and various service units, the mosque serves as an important center in Kardzhali.
Minister Ersoy said, “This mosque built in Kardzhali also has the special distinction of being the only mosque in Bulgaria with a full religious complex.”
Ersoy emphasized that this work will further strengthen the shared historical and cultural ties between Turkiye and Bulgaria, on the basis of mutual respect, dialogue, and solidarity.
Thanking all institutions and officials who contributed to the construction of the mosque, Ersoy stated that the mosque and its complex will serve as an important center in the Balkan region for many years to come.
Minister Ersoy wished the project to be beneficial for the people of Kardzhali, the Muslims in the region, and the entire community.
