Zagreb Film Festival to showcase 120 international cinemas

The 23rd Zagreb Film Festival (ZFF) was opened on Monday at the CineStar Branimir cinema with the Macedonian film DJ Ahmet by Georgi M. Unkovski, and the festival will feature 120 recent international films.

The rich Industry programme will take place at several locations across Zagreb, bringing together around 150 film professionals, Festival Director Boris T. Matić, CE Report quotes HINA.

Nearly fifty titles will compete for the festival awards, including around thirty debut filmmakers vying for the main prizes.

In addition to the feature-length and short film competitions, films will be shown in a range of programmes, including Kockice, Together Again, PLUS, KinoKino, the Network of Adriatic Region Festivals, The Great 5, and Festivals Under the Spotlight. The Industry section, bringing together film professionals, will also take place.

The festival will be held across five venues — CineStar Branimir, Kinoteka, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Dokukino KIC. The feature film competition includes nine films, while the international short film competition features twelve.

Outside the competition, at the festival’s closing on 15 November, following the awards ceremony, the acclaimed new work by cult director Jim Jarmusch, Father Mother Sister Brother, will be screened.
