Louis Vuitton unveils Spring/Summer collection at Louvre
The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer collection runway show took place at the Musée du Louvre, in the summer apartments once inhabited by Queen Anne of Austria, celebrating the Art de Vivre, CE Report quotes ANSA.
More precisely, the new collection is “an ode to intimacy, freedom, and the pleasure of dressing for oneself,” as explained by the maison’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.
Above the golden ceilings of the gallery once used by the mother of the Sun King, Louis XIV — recently restored — strutted models in boned corsets, ethereal dresses, robe-like coats, and flowing tops and trousers. The color palette featured soft pastels and neutrals, interrupted by floral prints.
The set design by Marie Anne Derville recreated the atmosphere of a contemporary apartment by combining furniture and creations from different eras: artworks by American artist Robert Wilson, 18th-century furniture by Georges Jacob, 1930s Art Deco chairs by Michel Dufet, and 19th-century sculptures by Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat.
The music, composed by French musician Tanguy Destable, included the lyrics of This Must Be the Place by Talking Heads, recited by actress Cate Blanchett. Since taking over as artistic director of women’s collections in 2013, Nicolas Ghesquière has presented many of his shows at the Louvre.
The front row was truly royal, with guests including First Lady Brigitte Macron — a regular at Vuitton shows — and actresses Zendaya and Emma Stone.
