Pablo Picasso Portrait of Dora Maar to Auction in Paris

A painting by Pablo Picasso, one of the portraits of his partner Dora Maar, created in 1943 and kept by the family of its first owner since 1944, was unveiled today at the Hôtel Drouot in Paris, where it will be auctioned on October 24, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Titled “Bust of a Woman with a Flower Hat”, this oil painting measuring 80 by 60 centimeters is estimated around eight million euros, said Christophe Lucien, the auctioneer in charge of the sale along the Seine.

The painting was created by Picasso on July 11, 1943, and bought a year later, in August 1944, by the grandfather of the current heirs, a prominent French collector. The heirs intend to sell it as part of an inheritance settlement.
