Bulgaria Highlights Cultural Heritage
Bulgaria is highlighting its rich cultural legacy in an outdoor exhibition marking the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, currently under the Bulgarian Presidency. Deputy Culture Minister Todor Chobanov stated that Bulgaria stands among Europe’s most heritage-rich countries, alongside Italy and Greece, CE Report quotes BTA
“This is both a gift from the past and a great responsibility,” Chobanov told BTA on Wednesday. The exhibition, located on the pedestrian bridge near the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, runs until August 6.
Designed to raise public awareness, the exhibition features 56 photo panels showcasing UNESCO-listed and tentative sites across Bulgaria. Each panel includes a QR code linking to more information. Chobanov noted that advancing sites from the tentative list to official UNESCO recognition is a long, expert-driven process.
The exhibition will also travel abroad and to Bulgarian schools to spark student interest in cultural preservation. It highlights ongoing efforts to extend existing UNESCO sites, including the Danube Limes and Kazanlak Tomb.
