Italian Embassy in Tokyo Hosts Vespa Celebration

Anew gathering of the 'Vespa Tokyo Club' at the Italian Embassy in Japan, in the centre of the capital, welcomed for a commemorative group photo, defining the colours of the tricolour as a sign of gratitude, CE Report quotes ANSA.

In a metropolis now projected towards the summer season, thanks to the scorching temperatures of recent days, fifteen Vespas were arranged in a sequence of green, white and red colours to represent the Italian flag, in harmony with the lights projected along a large wall of the residence.

Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti, a long-standing enthusiast of the scooter that has become an interpreter of Italian style and design since the post-war period, was honoured with a photo album containing some pictures of his participation in the previous event in 2022.

The Tokyo club is the nationwide branch of the club, already a member of the World Vespa Club, which brings together Vespa associations from all over the world, committed to spreading the fascination of the Italian two-wheeler.

"I have been a Vespa rider for a long time and today in Tokyo I ride a 1982 PX 125 and a GTS 300," Ambassador Benedetti tells ANSA.

"Riding a Vespa is not just the pleasure of the two-wheeled sensation, it is a unique experience that only this iconic symbol of Italian design, elegance and aesthetic taste can give you. I am happy to be able to share this passion with many friends of the Vespa Club Tokyo that I wanted to bring together at the Embassy for a souvenir photo and a wish for a good summer on a Vespa!".

In the same vein is one of the coordinators in Tokyo, Giuseppe Favrin, originally from Valdagno, in the province of Vicenza, and resident in Japan since 2013: "Vespa Club Tokyo has 160 members, mostly Japanese, and attendance at our events is always high, exceeding our expectations. Next year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary and we hope that the passion we share for the Vespa will serve to create a greater spirit of fellowship and friendship between the two peoples".
