
TIFF 2025 Opens in Cluj with 200 Films
The 24th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), Romania’s leading film event, opens on Friday, June 13, in Cluj-Napoca. Running until June 22, the 10-day festival will screen 200 films — 172 features and 28 shorts — from 53 countries, selected from over 1,000 entries by a team led by artistic director Mihai Chirilov, CE Report quotes Agerpres
Highlights of the opening weekend include appearances by Oscar-winner Danis Tanovic, presenting My Late Summer, and director Uberto Pasolini with The Return, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. Directors Aitor Arregi and Jon Garano, along with Goya-winning actor Eduard Fernandez, will also attend with Marco, the Invented Truth.
TIFF’s program extends beyond film, with concerts at the Art Museum and Banffy Castle, exhibitions by photographers Cosmin Bumbut and Hajdu Tamas, and cult screenings like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Invisible Fight.
Twelve films will compete for the prestigious Transylvania Trophy, while ten documentaries vie for the What's Up Doc? award.
The festival is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Film and the Transilvania Film Festival Association, with support from national and local institutions.
