Generations in Watercolour

Culture

An exhibition titled “Steps in Time: Generations” opens this Thursday at Sofia’s Arte Gallery, showcasing watercolour works by Vassil Valev, Milko Bozhkov, Svilen Blazhev, and Stanislav Pamukchiev. The exhibit runs until June 4, CE Report quotes BTA

Curated to emphasize generational continuity in Bulgarian art, the show brings together a teacher and his former students from Sofia’s art high school in the 1960s. Art historian Anelia Nikolaeva highlights how the artists — now acclaimed in their own right — reflect a vibrant artistic lineage.

Vassil Valev (1934–2021), a former professor at the National Academy of Art, was instrumental in advancing Bulgarian watercolor painting and founding major forums like the Targovishte Plein Air and national exhibitions.
