Museum Workers Demand Better Pay

Museum and gallery workers across Bulgaria staged a symbolic protest on Saturday, calling for a gradual wage increase to 125% of the national average salary. With current monthly earnings of BGN 1,200–1,300, staff say their pay is unacceptably low, CE Report quotes BTA

The protest coincided with the European Night of Museums and precedes International Museum Day on May 18. At the Sofia City Art Gallery and its affiliated spaces, demands were posted at entrances, while employees nationwide wore protest ribbons. Protesters are also pushing for a sector-wide agreement to improve working conditions.
