Culture

The Municipality of Tirana has begun implementing the initiative to install a statue of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in the square named after him in the 19th district of Paris, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

This project, thanks to fruitful cooperation with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries and promote the historical values of the Albanian nation on the international stage.

The statue will be a replica of the iconic work by the famous Albanian sculptor, Odhise Paskali, which was first inaugurated in January 1968 to mark the 500th anniversary of Skanderbeg's death, reports Tch. The Municipality of Tirana, through the team of the Art Works Realization Center, is working to bring this masterpiece to life in the most perfect form, preserving the authenticity and artistic power it represents.

This project is part of a long-term strategy to promote Albanian art and history worldwide.

In recent years, the Municipality of Tirana has carried out similar projects, such as the installation of the Skanderbeg statue in Budapest, Hungary, where it stands facing the statue of the Hungarian hero, Janos Hunyadi. The inauguration ceremony of the statue is expected to take place soon, with the participation of well-known personalities from Albania and France, as well as representatives of the Albanian diaspora in Europe.
