North Macedonia, Kosovo explore enhanced collaboration on environment

Minister of Environment and Physical Planning of North Macedonia Muamet Hoxha met with Kosovo Ambassador Florian Qehaja to discuss bilateral cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and physical planning, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release.

At the meeting, Minister Hoxha and Ambassador Qehaja confirmed the friendly ties and excellent cooperation between the two countries, CE Report quotes MIA.

"They stressed the importance of existing documents and joint initiatives, including the 2012 memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of environmental protection; the economic cooperation agreement; and the Shared Vision for Shar Planina regional initiative, which aims to protect and sustainably develop cross-border protected areas," the release said.

Hoxha and Qehaja stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties even more through cooperation on infrastructure and economic projects within the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program.

According to the release, "a common interest was expressed in intensifying cooperation in the coming period, including revising the existing memorandum between the two countries."

"Hoxha and Qehaja reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection and natural heritage preservation," the release noted.
