The Slovenian subsidiary of Renault was confirmed as the production site for two more new small electric vehicles along with the new all-electric Renault Twingo, as the latter was unveiled in Paris.

Jože Bele, CEO of Revoz factory in Novo Mesto, responded to the unveiling and confirmation by saying they were fully prepared for the new challenges. He described the Twingo project as "revolutionary", CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

He hailed the Renault Group's decision to also allocate production of two additional small electric models - one for Dacia and one for Nissan - to the Slovenian plant, which has been producing Renault's cars since 1973.

"With this, we will prove that we are capable of handling the most demanding projects," Bele said in a statement, adding that Revoz employees greatly appreciate the Renault Group's decision to add two further models to the Twingo production line at the plant.

They are also grateful for the support from the Slovenian government and the local community, both of which have recognised the project's significance not only for Revoz but for the entire Slovenian economy.

The decision is underpinned by a memorandum of understanding signed between government representatives and Renault in July 2024. The agreement provides the basis for Renault to receive state support for its investment in launching the new model's production.

Economy Minister Matjaž Han would not say at the time how much the government would chip in for the project, but as the new Twingo E-Tech was presented in the Revoz plant on 11 November this year, he said that the state would contribute €28 million to the investment of more than €150 million.

The company will hire an additional 250 workers by the end of this year for the purposes of the Twingo production, Bele said at the event, and 10% will be workers with higher education.

Revoz says the combination of increased production volumes, long-standing experience, and deep-rooted expertise in the automotive industry will enable the plant to achieve the high levels of industrial efficiency and quality for which it has been renowned for decades.

By manufacturing three distinct electric city cars, Revoz is confirming its strategic shift towards sustainable and advanced production for European customers, the company added.

Production of the new Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric will be in full swing at Revoz at the beginning of next year. Developed in under two years, the compact city car is designed to be both practical and affordable, with a price point under €20,000.
